My approach to Teaching Artistry, whether in schools, in professional development seminars or in workshops for the community, always involves deep reflection, inquiry, guided exploration and creation of works of art. I am rooted in community service and social justice, and often infuse participant creative involvement in my work as a choreographer and activist.

NEWS: “Confluence”, a foray into blending site-specific choreography and film, is currently in production. This was an exciting project with Blue Moves, working in water and creating a piece for film. You can view a very rough draft of footage shot with my small point and shoot here.

October brings a short series of classes at Art and Soul. You can sign up to join me Monday evenings in October as we reflect and play with writing and movement to explore our passions, and how to fuel that fire in the soul: Stoking the Fire.

Over the past few months I presented a workshop on Arts-Based Service Learning at the Tennessee Service-Learning Conference, and was honored to join a group of presenters from across the country at SCEA’s Arts @ the Core of 21st Century Learning in May. I also co-facilitated TPAC Education’s Summer Institute, and presented at Tennessee Arts Commission’s Summer Intensive in June.

In the winter, I was honored to be nominated by the Tennessee Arts Commission as a member of Southern Artistry.org, an online artist registry designed to showcase the South’s artistic diversity and excellence by spotlighting outstanding artists of all disciplines that live and work in the region.
